eEye To Offer 25% Discount Channel Conversion Incentive to Entice Symantec Partners

eEye to offer a 25% discount to former Symantec resellers who join the eEye Partner Program or change a Symantec renewal opportunity into an eEye purchase

(Irvine, CA) July 24, 2008 — In response to Symantec’s recent announcement to bypass its largest channel partners in favor of adopting a direct sales model, eEye Digital Security (www.eeye.com) will offer a 25% discount to former Symantec resellers who join the eEye Partner Program or change a Symantec renewal opportunity into an eEye purchase. eEye Digital Security is a provider of integrated security and threat management solutions with an installed base of some 9,000 customers including over one-half of America’s largest corporations as listed on the Fortune 100.

As reported in trade journals, Symantec (NSDQ:SYMC) is transforming its channel strategy by taking both new deals and license renewals from partners in a move to “reduce its overall cost structure,” according to a June 12 conference call between Symantec COO Enrique Salem and Wall Street analysts. Symantec is focusing on its largest 900 customers and cutting partners out of the sales channel by selling directly to this customer base.

Symantec also announced it would automate its subscription renewals for its small to mid-size business (SMB) customers, essentially undermining the channel of its ability to receive recurring revenue streams from annual software license renewals.

Although eEye Digital Security has customers in multiple countries, the promotion is available only in the United States and Canada.
