(Irvine, CA) The Product Manager Position is responsible for both product planning and product marketing. This includes managing the product throughout the product lifecycle, gathering and prioritizing requirements, defining the products development tasks, and working closely with engineering, clients, and marketing to deliver professional grade security solutions. It also includes working with sales and services to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. The Product Manager's job also includes ensuring that the product and marketing efforts support the company's overall strategy and goals.
Principal Responsibilities
- Manages multiple products or a product line with little direct supervision. Shapes and/or champions new direction for the product
- Prepares and presents the business case supporting a particular product and/or product line
- Evaluates and drives product management processes (e.g., pricing strategy, product positioning and long term strategic business plans)
- Ensures the right blend of trade-offs to maximize the product impact in the marketplace.
- Manages the collection and definition of candidate features and function across all cross-functional areas resulting in the Product Requirements Document
- Gathers and analyzes data from all sources, e.g., customer requirements, market analysis data, revenue numbers. Analyzes and understands competitors and their
- Researches market need and creates the business case and strategy for assigned product. Analyzes financial impact of program changes. Develops cost and cash flow model for products
- Tracks, forecasts, and reports product sales revenue and profitability
- Leverages product/market knowledge to assist cross-functional groups including Product Marketing and field personnel with training content. Supports senior staff with research, development, and presentation of new product concepts to gain timely management approval and handling of issues for product feature/function set
- Drives solutions across development teams (primarily Engineering Development and Marketing) through Product requirements, product contract, and positioning
- Collaborates to develop and implement a company-wide go-to-market plan for a product, working with all departments to execute
- Help the executive team define the delivery of products and solutions
- Document PRDs with prioritized features and corresponding justification
- Work with external third parties to assess partnerships and licensing opportunities
- Be an expert with respect to the competition and the security industry
- Assist with the core positioning and messaging for the product
- Perform product demos to customers and new product sales training
- Develop sales tools and collateral
- Brief and train the sales force at quarterly sales meetings
- Brief press and analysts
Knowledge and Skills
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a Product Manager or Product Marketing Manager
- Demonstrated success defining and launching excellent products
- Experience with the Agile development philosophy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Technical or security background
- Excellent teamwork skills
- Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority
- Must be able to manage multiple products simultaneously
