Kamal Arafeh, Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Arafeh was named CEO of eEye Digital Security in April, 2007 after six months as the company’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales & Marketing. A veteran Sales, Operations and Management Executive, Mr. Arafeh has led the company to substantial improvement in productivity resulting in several successful product launches and incremental revenue growth, culminating in the company’s first profitable year followed by a second year of material profitability growth.

Mr. Arafeh has a proven track record of strong revenue growth and P&L management. Prior to joining eEye, Mr. Arafeh was most recently Vice President of Sales and Marketing of the Americas and Asia Pacific at Astaro where he was responsible for over 100% revenue growth in both regions. Earlier, as Vice President of WW Sales at Vernier Networks and as General Manager of Enterprise Products at Roxio, Mr. Arafeh successfully led his organizations toward substantial growth which, for the latter, resulted in Roxio’s GoBack product acquisition by Symantec in 2003. Before this, he held a four year tenure at McAfee where he grew channel sales operations by 200% annually.

Kate Kawalek, VP, Development and Operations

Kate Kawalek joined the eEye Digital Security team in March 2006 as Director of Engineering Operations and has since been instrumental in establishing new processes for the Engineering, Customer Support and Quality Assurance teams. Ms. Kawalek has been the catalyst for launching and implementing the Agile Software Development Process across all development teams and is known by her proven track record of building a strong environment of process and methodology for product creation and on time product release.

Prior to joining eEye Digital Security, Ms. Kawalek was Manager, R&D for QSC Audio Products, a world leader in professional audio manufacturing. During her 12 year tenure with QSC, Ms. Kawalek held various roles, cumulating with the ultimate responsibility of leading a team of 20+ hardware, firmware and software engineers. She has 10+ highly successful years directing both hardware and software based product life cycles. Ms. Kawalek graduated from the California State University, Fullerton with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. Most recently in 2007 she was certified as an Agile Software Process Scrum Master.

Chris Silva, Chief Architect and VP, Products

Mr. Silva serves as eEye's Vice President of Products and Chief Architect. In this role, he is responsible for the development strategy and vision of the eEye portfolio which includes the award-winning Retina and Blink product families. Mr. Silva has over 15 years of experience in building and leading successful engineering teams. Since joining eEye in 2001, he has held a variety of engineering leadership positions, including product development lead, product manager and software architect. In doing so, he has helped transform eEye's research & development department and product line into industry leaders. Prior to eEye, Mr. Silva worked on and led engineering teams at Berkeley Systems, Inc. where he contributed to the acclaimed titles After Dark and You Don't Know Jack. Mr. Silva is an alumnus of the University of California, Berkeley's College of Engineering.

Kim Macfee, VP, Finance

Kim Macfee joined eEye in February 2008 as Controller and today serves as the company’s VP Finance and Secretary of the Board of Directors. Mr. Macfee has over 15 years of public and private company experience across the software, hardware, transportation, and financial services industries, where he has held multiple Finance, Accounting, & Sales Operations positions. Since he joined eEye Digital Security, he has been responsible for driving improved accounting processes, while creating a finance team focused on business partnering and decision support. Mr. Macfee graduated from the University of Oregon, with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Finance.

Sam Rodd, General Counsel

As General Counsel, Mr. Rodd oversees all legal matters, including corporate governance, intellectual property, contracts, and corporate transactions. He is a former Vice President and General Counsel at Computer Associates and for over 18 years has been practicing law specializing in computer technology contracts and issues. He has provided legal consulting services to numerous clients, among them Citibank, Colgate Palmolive, Sterling Commerce and Chemical Bank, as well as several software portfolio companies of Insight Venture Partners, a large venture capital firm based in New York City. Mr. Rodd is a graduate of Harvard College and Columbia University Law School.
